- Project Overview
The goal of this project was to design an intuitive, and engaging user interface for an inflight entertainment system (IFE) for Thai Airways. The system was tailored to enhance the passenger experience by providing easy access to entertainment options, flight information, and other services while ensuring seamless usability across diverse demographics.

- Key Objectives
User-Centered Design: Create a user interface that caters to passengers of all ages, abilities, and cultural backgrounds.
Seamless Navigation: Ensure passengers can quickly and intuitively access movies, TV shows, music, games, and flight services.
Brand Alignment: Reflect the airline’s brand identity through consistent visual design and aesthetics.
Scalability: Design a flexible system to accommodate future feature enhancements and updates.
- Key Design Features
Home screen: Centralized access to movies, TV shows, music, and games.
Flight Information: Real-time flight details, maps, and destination guides.
Service Requests: Simple access to order meals, adjust lighting, or call a flight attendant.
Multilingual Support: UI available in multiple languages to accommodate global passengers.

- Process Overview
Research & Discovery
- Meet with stakeholders in person and through virtual meetings to align on project goals and constraints.
- Performed user research to understand passenger needs, behaviors, and pain points.
- Analyzed competitors’ inflight systems to identify industry benchmarks and opportunities for differentiation.
Ideation & Concept Development
Developed user personas based on research insights, representing frequent travelers, families, and tech-savvy users.
Created user journey maps to outline the interaction flow from boarding to disembarking.
Brainstormed innovative features like a split-screen mode.
Design & Prototyping
- Designed wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes to establish layout and navigation patterns.
- Developed high-fidelity mockups incorporating the airline’s branding, using Figma.
- Built interactive prototypes to simulate user interactions for usability testing.
Testing & Iteration
- Conducted usability testing sessions with a diverse group of passengers.
- Collected feedback on navigation ease, visual appeal, and feature accessibility.
- Iterated on the design to address issues such as button placement, readability, and touch responsiveness.
Handoff & Implementation
- Collaborated with developers to ensure accurate translation of designs into the final system.
- Conducted quality assurance checks to validate functionality and performance on inflight hardware.
